LSW Sports Travel Mission Statement

LSW Sports Travel is a next step baseball program to help develop players skills, sportsmanship and teamwork with kids in their age group. Players from 8 years old to 12 years old will get the opportunity to play at a competitive level while having fun and working hard so that they can compete further into their Junior and Senior High School years.

                                                LSW Sports Travel By-Laws

1. All players MUST participate in LSW Spring Intramural League
2. All players will play age appropriate. The age cut off date is 4/30. example: if the player is 9 years old prior to the cut off date he must play with the 9u team.
3. LSW Travel Baseball starts at the age of 8 years old. We do allow selected 7 year old's to fill up a second team(B) if needed for 1 year then they must stay down the next year to play age appropriate
4. Players may move from a Red team to a Blue team and vise versa with league and coach approval.
5. We are not looking to take players from other leagues or programs. If they sign up for LSW intramurals baseball with league approval they may play travel.
6. If the child does not make the LSW travel at 7-8 or 9 the player can continue to be evaluated every year. Some players mature later and become travel players in the later years 10-11 or 12 years old. 
7. LSW will form additional teams if there are players and coaches available to form a team. 

Coaches

1. All coaches will be approved by the LSW Board.
2. If more than 1 travel team can be formed in the age group, the coaches will work together to form the teams. Try and place 12-14 players on the teams.
3. Coaches may be subject to random background checks.
4. Coaches will obey the LSW code of Conduct.
5. Coaches are obligated to try and develop all players on their team.
6. At least 1 coach per age group has to help:
   • Coordinate with Travel Schedules
   • Coordinate any changes in the schedule            
   • Communicate any game changes with the head umpire
   • Coordinate the Playoff Schedule
   • Keeping track of wins and losses

Travel Teams Obligations

1. All teams are expected to play and support LSW Travel Leagues and all Tournaments.
2. All Travel Teams are responsible for their own finances, except fundraising for Cooperstown.
3. Uniforms/Equipment will be ordered from L.I. Athletics and paid for by the teams fund.
4. Getting the players to Cooperstown to have the best baseball experience

Cooperstown Guidelines

1. Sponsorships must come from outside the LSW area(your place of work, etc). The league has many sponsors in Wantagh, Seaford and Levittown so please try to go outside the league sponsors. Check the website for the league sponsors.
2. All monies collected will be deposited in the LSW Cooperstown Account. LSW is a 501c non for profit organization and tax responsibilities will be under LSW.
3. Fundraising ideas come from the teams going but there are some long standing traditional events that must be continued.

• The Long Standing Night at the Races
